Terms of Service

1. What BlackOwnedCity is
BlackOwnedCity is a directory that helps people discover Black-owned businesses. We run automated checks on listings (see How We Verify), but we are an information service — not a party to any transaction between you and any listed business.
2. No guarantees — use your judgment
Listings are provided "as is." Verification reflects automated checks of public data at a point in time. Businesses change ownership, close, or change details without notice. We do not guarantee the accuracy, quality, safety, licensing status, or ownership status of any listing, and we are not responsible for the goods or services any business provides. Always do your own diligence before hiring or purchasing.
3. Verification is not certification
Our badges reflect automated verification of public records and owner attestations. They are not a legal certification of minority-owned business status and may not be used for government contracting, supplier-diversity programs, or similar purposes.
4. Business owners
By submitting or claiming a listing you confirm the information is accurate and that you are authorized to represent the business. Misrepresenting ownership is grounds for immediate removal. We may edit, decline, or remove any listing at our discretion, including listings that fail re-verification.
5. Featured placements are advertising
Businesses may pay for Featured placement. Featured listings are always labeled "Featured." Payment never changes a verification badge and never exempts a listing from re-verification or removal.
6. Acceptable use
Don't scrape, spam, submit false listings or reviews, infringe others' rights, or interfere with the service. We may suspend access for abuse.
7. Intellectual property & third parties
Business names and marks belong to their owners; their appearance here is informational and implies no endorsement of us or by us. BlackOwnedCity is independent and not affiliated with Google, Yelp, any state licensing board, any chamber of commerce, or any certification body.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BlackOwnedCity and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss arising from your use of the service or dealings with listed businesses. Our total liability for any claim is limited to $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.
9. Corrections & removal requests
Own a business listed here and want it corrected or removed? Email beharris234@gmail.com or use the claim flow — we act on legitimate requests promptly.
10. Changes & governing law
We may update these terms by posting the new version here. Continued use means acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA.
