Delete your BlackOwnedCity account
You can delete your BlackOwnedCity account and the data attached to it at any time. It is free, and you do not have to give a reason.
How to request deletion
- Email beharris234@gmail.com from the address you signed in with, or tap the button below to open a pre-filled message.
- Tell us the email address on the account, and the business listing if you claimed one.
- We confirm by replying to that same address, then delete the account. This normally takes under 7 days and never more than 30.
What gets deleted
- Your account and sign-in record, including your email address
- Your active sign-in sessions
- Your claim on any business listing, and the owner edits you made
- Your saved favorites
- Any job postings you submitted
What we keep, and why
- The business listing itself stays. Listings are a public directory of Black-owned businesses and most were not created by the person claiming them. Deleting your account removes your claim and your edits, not the listing. If you want the listing taken down as well, say so in your email and we will remove it.
- Records we are required to keep, such as basic transaction or abuse-prevention records, are retained for up to 12 months and then deleted.
- Anonymous, aggregated analytics that are no longer linked to you and cannot be traced back to you.
Deleting some data without deleting your account
You do not have to close your account to remove information. Email the same address and tell us what you want removed, for example your phone number, photos, or social links, and we will remove it and leave the account active.
